Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said he had actively campaigned to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister in both 2014 and 2019, but now faces an attempt to destroy his party. Speaking to PTI, Thackeray said he felt “sad and angry” that despite backing Modi twice, his party was broken.
“I was saying Modi ji should become Prime Minister. Today, he is saying I should be finished,” Thackeray said, adding that people were beginning to recognise this shift.

He also alleged that separating Mumbai from Maharashtra has long been a BJP agenda. While claiming the Sena may have been weakened “on paper”, Thackeray asserted it still remains strong on the ground. He further said political standards declined due to the BJP’s behaviour.
