PANJIM: First the first time since the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was shifted to Goa from New Delhi 10 years ago, the Goa Traffic Police, managed the vehicular traffic well on inaugural day November 20 with few hitches.
Vehicles moved smoothly along majority of the city roads with traffic police making relentless efforts to ensure that traffic does not grind to a halt, despite additional IFFI traffic from 4pm till about 7pm. Unlike in the pat the Dayanand Bandodkar route was closed briefly a little before the inaugural and after the programme got over. In the interregnum traffic was allowed to flow along the route. Alternate arrangements were made when the route was blocked.
A police official said that the credit also goes to commuters who adhered to the alternate traffic plan.
