VALPOI: Shel Melauli villagers on Friday came out on the road demanding the government to stop the demarcation work, which is going on at the proposed IIT project.
“The government officials are threatening us. We are ready to get arrested, if the government wants to put us behind bars,” the villagers said.
“We have already submitted many memorandums to the government regarding the IIT project in Melauli village. But the government failed to reply,” say the villagers.
The villagers requested Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to visit the Shel Melauli village and take stock of the situation.
“The Melauli village land which is proposed for the IIT project is not suitable. The Forest Department has given the wrong report on the proposed project land. We demand to the government to take action against the Forest officials,” said Unnati Melekar.
