PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued yellow alert from July 29 to August 1 warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over North and South Goa districts.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall with strong surface winds very likely at isolated places over North Goa and South Goa districts,” the IMD said.

Meanwhile, since the onset of monsoon to July 28, 2024, the state has received 111.8 inches of average rainfall as against normal rainfall of 73 inches, an increase of 52.1 per cent, the IMD said.
As far as gauge stations are concerned, Mapusa has received 106.3 inches of rainfall, Pernem 112 inches, Ponda 115 inches, Panjim 108 inches, Old Goa 111, Sanquelim 125 inches, Valpoi 137 inches, Canacona 109 inches, Dabolim 87 inches, Margao 104 inches, Mormugao 99 inches, Mormugao 99 inches, Quepem 115 inchs and Sanguem 128 inches till 8.30 am of July 28, 2024.
