CM Pramod Sawant declined to give any concrete assurance for increasing the retirement age of the teaching faculty in the Goa University. During a Zero Hour mention on the floor of the House, Leader of Opposition, Digambar Kamat urged the govt to increase the retirement age of the professors from 60 years to 65 years.
“Unlike in other parts of the country, the retirement age of the teaching faculty at Goa University has not been extended to 65 years but doctors at GMC have already got this privilege,” Kamat said requesting CM to take immediate steps.
To this, Sawant, who is also the Minister for Education denied giving an assurance stating it would be serving injustice to several unemployed educated youth in the State. “There are many young educated youth waiting for employment. If we increase the age to 65 years, they will have to wait for another five years. It will be injustice on them. We will have to think over it,” he told the House.
