PANJIM: The increased compensation, by three times, promised to the Mopa residents who have lost their land for the new airport, will be paid on October 24.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, addressing the media said that the total amount of compensation is Rs 31 cr. He said that the MoU with the successful bidder for the airport would be signed on November 8, the day his government completes two years in office.
“GMR Airports Ltd was given the letter of award on September 17 and within 45 days concession agreement has to be signed and the concessionaire has to deposit performance security of Rs 65 cr in next 45 days,” Parsekar said. The Chief Minister said that the foundation stone for the Mopa airport would be laid most probably on November 14, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The official who finalises the PM’s appointments is out of station and on leave but we are expecting it to be laid on Nov 14,” he stated.
