The Goa Government Employees Association today decided to go on an indefinite pen-down-tool-down strike from September 22 protesting against the government’s failure to meet their demand on upgradation of pay scales.
A decision in this regard was reached at a joint meeting of the GGEA working committee and the taluka committees.
The GGEA general secretary said that the meeting unanimously resolved to resume the pen-down-tool-down strike from September 22 till the order of upgradation of pay scales to the left out categories is issued by the government.
“All employees were already geared up earlier and awaiting to resume the strike in case the demand is not settled by the government,” he said adding “However considering that there is enormous delay on the part of the government, despite giving a written assurance, we have resolved to go on a strike.”
He said that the taluka committees expressed their total support and determination to fight the injustice and informed the working committee that the employees of respective talukas have assured their total support.
The working committee guided the taluka committees about handling the situation during the strike period and also assured to depute office bearers in the respective talukas for overall supervision, he said.
The general secretary further said some secretariat employees have also extended their support to the strike.
“The government has not upgraded the pay scales of all secretariat employees but has done it selectively and the employees whose scales have not been upgraded have assured their morale support,” he said.
