PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday announced that the government has approved the Industrial Policy of the State which will benefit companies employing 80 percent Goans.
“Today I have approved the industrial policy of the State which will provide benefit to the units employing 80 percent of the total workforce from Goa. They will benefit through affirmative action and positive discrimination,” Parrikar said in his address on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day.
“Industries providing employment to locals would be incentivised. In terms of unemployment in Goa, the State will take up skill development initiatives which will help ease this problem to a large extent,” Parrikar said.
He added that Goans are very selective when it comes to choosing jobs and other employment opportunities. “Goans want employment of a very selective and particular nature, either they want to be employed in a government sector or want to sit in the office, they don’t want to take field jobs,” the Chief Minister said.
Parrikar also said that Information Technology Policy would be implemented in the next few days. “To address the problem of unemployment, the government will implement the Information Technology (IT) Policy in the next few days. Also the government will work out the other ways and solutions,” he added.
