PANJIM: The South Goa district collector Mihir Vardhan, reiterating the need to fix CCTV cameras at cyber cafes has prohibited persons who do not disclose their identity to the owner from using cyber cafes.

PANJIM: The South Goa district collector Mihir Vardhan, reiterating the need to fix CCTV cameras at cyber cafes has prohibited persons who do not disclose their identity to the owner from using cyber cafes. He said maintaining of a register at the café is compulsory. Earlier only details of the visitor like telephone number and identity proof was asked for but now he or she has to also sign the register.
The order also says that only a government identity card can be used to establish the identity of the visitor and records should be maintained about the specific computer used by the person.
Stating that SP south has reported that in view of the intelligence inputs regarding terrorist threats and the prevailing situation in the country, Vardhan said it was necessary to impose restrictions on cyber cafes.
