But says not possible for cops to patrol every inch
MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said it was not possible for police to patrol inch and inch of every space, even while admitting there’s a need to build up intelligence gathering in the state.
He also refused to admit that the Banda-Assolna desecration incident has any connection with the Velim cemetery desecration case. “In the Velim case, it was apparently done by a person with a psychological problem. That incident has nothing to do with Assolna vandalism. My police are probing into the Chapel case,” he said.
When newsmen sought to know whether the police have failed to keep a tab on miscreants attacking places of worship, Parrikar shot back, “I will ask you one thing. Can the police patrol inch and inch of every space. I admit that intelligence gathering needs to be built up as it is not up to the mark like 15 years ago,” he said during his visit to Navelim during a football match final this evening.
