Suspended cop involved, claim police

PANJIM: In a bizarre incident, two motorcycle -borne persons handed over a sack containing two Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) uniforms of constables, to a local English daily late Monday night, with a handwritten note asking them to return the uniforms to the concerned policemen.
Unfortunately, for the culprit, police claim that they have found the culprit – one of their own – and he has since been suspended.
The crumpled uniforms, with buckle numbers and name plates along with the letter were later handed over to the Panjim police, who have now sought an inquiry into the matter.
The signed letter – name obviously fake – mentioned that the uniforms be handed over to the respective police personnel “or else the judges will be at risk.” The uniforms were picked from the changing room of the personnel, who are deployed on guard duty at Bombay High Court at Goa.
Panjim Police Inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai said the personnel have suspected suspended constable Vikarna Khandeparkar for carrying out this act since they saw him entering the room and later realised that their uniforms were missing.
In the report to the higher ups, the officer has recommended that an inquiry would reveal who was actually behind the incident, while also inquiring against the suspended constable. Police are also on the lookout for two unidentified bikers to ascertain from where they got the uniforms.
