The Task Force proposed by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat in his budget speech in March this year to draw up the road map for utmost utilization of the potential created under IT sector and oversee its implementation, has been finally constituted.
Dr Vijay Bhatkar will head the Task Force while its other members are Ashank Dessai, Prof K R Srivathsan, Prof Subhash Bhatnagar, Vivek Sawant, Prof Vithal Sukhtankar and IT secretary is also part of the task force as an ex-officio member. The main task of the Task Force is to utilize the substantial potential which has been created in the Information Communications Technology (ICT) Sector on e-Governance and to develop the strategies for ICT and e-Governance implementation in the State of Goa by studying the existing IT set up and suggest the road map for the fullest utilization of potential.
It will also require to suggest various ways for streamlining the implementation process of e-Governance departments besides suggesting overarching ICT Application Architecture and to review inter-dependencies, overlaps, conflicts, standards across ICT Applications.
It is further expected to review core and support infrastructure shared across several projects for effectiveness and to review Security and legal aspects, across ICT projects.
It will also oversee delivery of projects and recommend a mode of implementation to achieve faster execution.
Its other tasks include — promoting capacity building for effective implementation of ICT in the State, conducting periodic review and update the State ICT and e-Governance policy and framework based on inputs received from ministry of IT and to chalk out road map and planning in bringing IT investments in the State.
But above all it need to work to make Goa as ICT model State.
