CURCHOREM: PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Sunday commissioned the work of laying the water supply pipeline and construction of transmission reservoir and pumping house under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project which was abandoned for the last three years after laying the foundation stone almost 12 years back at by then chief minister Digambar Kamat and in the presence of then PWD minister Churchill Alemao, at Guddemol-Sanvordem.
Speaking on the occasion, Pauskar said that the project which was abandoned earlier by the previous contractor is restarted by appointing a new contractor and it would be completed by 2021 and the difficulties of water shortage in Sanvordem will be solved.
“Although the Salaulim Dam is very close to Sanvordem, people are facing difficulties to get water and therefore panchayat is supplying water by tankers. But once the project gets completed, people not only from Guddemol but from surrounding areas would get sufficient water,” said Pauskar.
According to Pauskar, the 32 crore project which will cover Sanguem, Kalay, Sanvordem , Curchorem and Quepem.
