PANJIM: Joe Dias has been elected unopposed as the new president of the Congress South Goa District Committee, with only one nomination being received for the post on Tuesday.
For the North district committee president post, former committee member Vijay Bhike and Mapusa Block committee president Subodh Amonkar have filed nominations.
The election is scheduled on Wednesday. The results will be declared after October 3, following the INC working committee meeting in New Delhi.
The South Goa district committee election will take place at the Congress office in Margao from 10am to 12pm and for north it will be from 3pm to 5pm at the party head office.
Polling will also take place to elect four vice presidents in each district along with 21 executive committee members. Six district committee members from each of the 40 blocks will vote.
The district committee election will be followed by Pradesh election committee polls.
