PANJIM: Senior journalist Rupesh Samant underwent another round of extensive interrogation on Monday in connection with the sexual harassment cases registered against him. Samant had surrendered before Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashley Noronha on Sunday morning and was subsequently arrested by the Women’s Police Station.
When his remand and bail hearings come up before the local court on Tuesday, the investigation team will seek his extended custody and contest the bail plea. Sources said the investigation needs to recover two other mobile handsets, which Samant had used at the time of the alleged offences. On his surrender, the journalist had handed over his phone to the court.
“In the meantime, we have written to Whatsapp to retrieve the deleted messages,” an officer said.
