As villagers learned that the Panchayat plans to conduct a vaccination drive for pet dogs on October 22, they raised concerns about the growing population of stray dogs, calling for effective measures to address the nuisance. Residents also highlighted the dangers posed by stray cattle, which have been involved in accidents on the highway, resulting in injuries and fatalities.
Additionally, locals pointed out that numerous vendors are conducting business on the roadside, prompting calls for the Panchayat to collect sopo taxes from these vendors.
Sarpanch Manuja Naik chaired the Gramsabha and reported that discussions covered a range of issues, including garbage management. She announced the formation of various committees to oversee development works. Furthermore, it was decided that the Health Centre for Dhavli, currently located at Tisk Ponda, will be relocated to the vacant premises of the Government Primary School in Dhavli.
Deputy Sarpanch Sushant Kapileshwarkar addressed the issue of stray cattle, stating that the Panchayat will initiate action starting next week, following an awareness campaign for cattle owners. He confirmed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed with the Goshala at Dabal Nirankal to impound stray cattle and relocate them to the Goshala. Efforts are also underway to tackle the stray dog problem through a partnership with People for Animals.
Additionally, Kapileshwarkar announced that the process for land acquisition for a Panchayat ground will be initiated, and the Panchayat will begin collecting sopo taxes from street vendors, including those selling fruits and food.
