CUNCOLIM: Quepem Municipal Council (QMC) Chairperson Dayesh Naik and local MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar have alleged that BJP government is trying to seize Congress-dominated wards in Quepem by reserving them.
While Naik has term the reservation as “match fixing”, Kavlekar stated that the BJP is trying to enter the municipality through the back door as it cannot beat him in the elections. Kavlekar is confident that his supporters will once again make it to the QMC.
Dayesh is planning to contest the election from a neighbouring ward. Former QMC Chairperson and BJP leader Manuel Colaco will contest from Bibrumoddi ward, while Councillor Suchitra Shirvoikar will contest from Shirvoi ward. MLA supporters Maria Cardozo, Dayesh Naik, and Filu D’Costa are also set to contest elections, as is veteran politician Rahul Pereira, Councillor Amol Kanekar and other councillors.
