OLD GOA, AUG 6
Old Goa police got a major breakthrough in the Rs 16.32 lakh theft case, with the arrest of the prime accused in Amritsar-Punjab.
It may be recalled that Kulwant Singh of Amritsar-Punjab had stolen cash and gold ornaments valued at about Rs 16.32 lakh from the house of an NRI, Anil Nourie, at Old Goa last month.
An Old Goa police team had gone to Amritsar and conducted investigations with the help of its counterparts at the Dehrababa Nanak police station, but returned to the State empty-handed.
However, Singh was arrested by the Dehrababa Nanak police in Amritsar seven days ago.
Old Goa PI Gurudas Gawde along with a police team has now left for Amritsar to take custody of the accused for further investigations into the theft.
