Khaunte has no confidence in SIT: Trajano

PANJIM: The Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) on Saturday said that Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has lack of confidence in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Police probing land grabbing cases and was favouring central agencies like CBI or ED to probe the Porvorim land deals. The TMC also reiterated its stand that the SIT should be headed by a retired judge to ensure impartial inquiry.

Trajano D’Mello has alleged that Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has expressed no confidence in the Special Investigation Team probing land grabbing and in Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who is heading it by saying that he favours a CBI or ED probe into Porvorim land deals.

TMC Goa communication cell coordinator Trajano alleged connivance between Khaunte and former Congress president Girish Chodankar, who too demanded CBI and ED, since these agencies have never charged any BJP leader.

‘The political tout termed opposition party’s former president a ‘Dalal’.  ‘Girish Chodankar had a secret pact to cover up BJP minister’s track, who was accused of being involved in land grabbing cases,” he said.

Trajano traced the duo’s relationship and said, ‘‘The Minister tried to join the Congress party under the presidentship of `Dalal,’ which was opposed by the entire Porvorim Block Congress by staging a walkout. Former Porvorim block Congress president S Phadte stated that the ‘Dalal’ would be the richest politician which has now come to be true.’
