CURCHOREM: The locals from Goychemol, Bagwada have strongly opposed a proposed multi-storey mega housing project. The area falls under Sanvordem panchayat.

A third joint-meeting pertaining to the matter was called and attended by sarpanch, other panch members, Bagwada locals and business owner Rajendra Naik.
The locals firmly made it clear that they oppose the project especially with no alternate facilities being in place. Traditional trail, route for emergency vehicles and other important amenities have not been thought of yet and citing this, locals have opposed the project.
As per the sources, the matter has been going on for the last 5 years and there was a series of meetings between original treasurer Shailesh Savardekar, the then sarpanch Sandip Pawaskar and locals. Most of the locals’ demands were agreed upon but the respective businessman quietly carried out paperwork and attained approval during panchayat elections when administrators were appointed to the panchayats.
This has agitated locals even more. The panchayat has backed the locals and said that local MLA Ganesh Gaonkar has been informed about the issue.
