PANJIM: Khazan Action Committee (KAC) on Friday met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to apprise him of the grave situation faced by the villagers and farmers due to flooding of khazan land as a result of damage and removal of sluice gates of Damda khazan and demanded strict action against the culprits.
Parrikar assured the members that prompt action would be taken against the culprits responsible for damaging and removing the sluice gates of Damda Khazan. He also assured to come up with a long term solution for the long pending issues of khazan areas.
Due to the removal of the sluice gates, at least 150 fields in Azossim Mandur, Neura, Dongri and Carambolim have been damaged.
The delegation was led by Ramrao Wagh (convenor -KAC) along with Azossim-Mandur Sarpanch Ajit Bacal, Neura Sarpanch Ujwala Naik, Shashikant Sawant, Satish Naik, Chairman- Damda khazan, Vijesh Vernekar, Antonette Fernandes along with Sadanand Tanawde (General Secretary BJP Goa).
The KAC also submitted a detailed memorandum describing the problems faced by its members and an action plan for the same. Following the meeting, the chief minister has convened a meeting of the officials concerned on October 30 to resolve the issue.
