Killer roads claim lives of 3 bike riders in 3 separate accidents

MARGAO/MAPUSA: Three motorcycle riders lost their lives in three separate road accidents across the State on Wednesday. Two of the deceased riders were ferrying pillions who sustained serious injuries. 

 In a freak accident reported at Sinquetim, Navelim, scooter rider Ramesh Waddara, 28, a native of Karnataka, died after his scooter crashed into an electric pole. According to the Margao police, his pillion rider Mohamed Shaik, 26, a resident of Margao, suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to the South Goa District Hospital.

Police said that Waddara was proceeding from Sinquetim towards Cordem, Telaulim, when he failed to maneuver the slight left turn near the chapel and crashed into the electricity pole. 

He suffered injuries to the head and face, and died instantly, said the police. His pillion rider fractured his hand. The Margao police have registered the offence under Section 279, 304 A and 338 of the IPC. 

Sidharta Naik (44), a resident of Khola, Canacona, died in a self-accident while he was proceeding from Agonda to Guillem. His pillion rider, Arvind Vijay Gaikwad of   Thane, Maharashtra, sustained injuries. 

According to Canacona PI Chandrakhant Gawas, Naik lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a tree on the side of the road. He was rushed to the Canacona CHC, where he succumbed to his injuries. The case has been registered as unnatural death under Section 174 of the CrPC.

The third self-accident was reported at Dhargalim, and claimed the life of Vasudev Pednekar, a 25-year-old from Nirwade, Maharashtra. Police said that the youth was proceeding towards Pernem on his motorcycle when he crashed into a roadside pole near the Dhargal panchayat, around 1 pm on Wednesday. Police said that the impact from the crash was such that the youth sustained grave head injuries and was bleeding profusely. He died on the spot. 

The police shifted his body to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
