PANJIM: Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar is scheduled to head the Central Bureau of Investigation (Goa), after a circular was issued Monday, even as he is yet to be relieved from his present posting and take charge.
The CBI was without its top officer after SP Prem Kumar on November 30.
The agency, which is probing the police-politician-drug mafia nexus and the alleged rape of a seven-year-old Vasco school girl, has more than a dozen cases to investigate.
Two of the three drug nexus cases were expected to be charge sheeted this month, which has been delayed probably due to the absence of a senior officer and pending forensic results.
Meanwhile, the CBI, which was entrusted with the Vasco rape case to trace and arrest the rapist, has not made any substantial headway in this case.
