MARGAO: The South Goa District Administration has confirmed that the dates for the demarcation exercise at Mollo, Velsao for the double tracking project, will be conducted between December 20 and 21.
This was revealed by Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira after this weekly meeting at the South Goa District Collectorate.
The Minister had earlier held a meeting with the Railway staff to discuss the demarcation issue that has seen protests from the locals of Velsao.
While South Western Railway (SWR) had recently completed the mutation process and its name has been added as the co-owner of the Survey 18/1, locals have alleged that procedures were not followed such as issuing of mandatory notices to them and as such the certificate of land possession issued to the railways was allegedly fraudulent.
While the Mollo locals have received notices about the demarcation exercise, they have also been asked to attend a meeting in January with the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records (DSLR) on this matter.
