Hitting back at Calangute Panchayat de facto leader Joseph Sequeira, Lobo said the Calangute Panchayat is in a total mess plagued by parking woes and traffic congestion only because the local body did not adhere to rules and regulations governing the constructions of buildings and mega projects.
“Calangute Panchayat did not bother to check that parking facilities are made available by builders and today, there is practically no place available to even park vehicles belonging to residents of the building,” Lobo told Herald. “Vehicles are parked along the roads in Calangute.
The State government is trying to put the system in place, but the local body wants to set deadlines for completion of various projects in Calangute,” said Lobo.
“I am told that JICA, which is undertaking sewerage network in Calangute, has been asked to stop the works from November 23 till February 15, 2015, which is not acceptable. The JICA works will continue as they have been given a deadline of December 2014 to complete the works,” he said.
