PANJIM: While the State Level Permission Committee (SLPC) is in discussion over granting final permission to a Gujarat based firm to hold electronic dance music (EDM) festival in Goa this December, a local player has jumped into the fray proposing to hold a separate show at a different venue.
Ayush Mehta of Sudarshan Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Ahmedabad, had in May submitted a proposal to hold the mega event titled “Time Out 72 Music Festival” in Survey Number 206/1 at Vagator-Anjuna from December 28 to 29, 2017. In September-end, another firm Lise Media, owned by a Pernem local had applied with the Tourism Department seeking permission to hold a small EDM with capacity of 4,000 attendees at Candolim.
Incidentally, both the venues until over a year ago were booked by the organizers of Sunburn and Supersonic, respectively.
Sources said the Ahmedabad-based businessman will most likely be granted permission to host its maiden event in the coastal belt considering that the peak tourist season last year failed to attract footfalls after Sunburn and Supersonic EDMs moved to Pune. On the other hand, the local firm has to comply with various conditions laid down by the Tourism Department.
“Both the applications are under consideration. We will take a decision this month so that the organizers get enough time to make preparations for the event,” an official said adding that the local organizers ‘need to submit a lot of clarifications and comply with many conditions.’
Both the organizers, until further meetings, have been handed over copies of High Court directives to comply with conditions laid down while holding such mega events.
