MARGAO: Goan farmers can now look forward to orders for their agricultural produce, especially locally grown vegetables, from starred hotels dotting the State’s coastline.

For, the website of the Federation of Goan farmers www.farmersfederationgoa.com, from both the North and South districts was launched on Tuesday, with the hoteliers promising to procure their vegetable requirements from the local farmers at the click of a mouse.

This became evident today when hoteliers and village farmers came under one platform on Tuesday at the Ravindra Bhavan here Tuesday morning at a symposium organized by South Goa Zilla Panchayat.

Says Mahindra Chef Devraj Bhowmick: “The Farmers Federation Goa website can give us the much needed access to the locally grown produce. This initiative will help us in times ahead. Our customers do want to try the Goan vegetable dishes. They want to try rural Goa. The farmers should come out with authentic Goan cuisine to meet the tastes of the customers,” Bhowmick later told Herald that a beginning has been made with the launching of the website. “Local farmers may not have the capacity to produce in bulk, but definitely Goan specialty vegetables can be procured and displayed in the hotels”, he said.
