MAPUSA: Siolim residents on Monday gathered outside the Primary Health Centre (PHC) after they learnt that work on the installation of a mobile tower is underway next to the PHC building.
The situation turned tense after people tried to stop the work. Immediately Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas reached the spot and verified the permissions the contractor had obtained from the concerned depts.

The Mamlatdar trying to convince said that if the tower is installed then it will benefit the village. However, the villagers including Panch members remained firm on their decision that they don’t want a tower in the residential area, that too right next to the PHC.
Meanwhile the contractor Devidas said, “I have the government order and permission from PWD, and I am doing the work based on the order.”
