Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced a three-day state mourning following the tragic death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash.
The chartered aircraft carrying Pawar and four others crashed while attempting to land at Baramati airport, killing all those on board. The incident occurred as Pawar was travelling to his hometown to address a series of public meetings and rallies ahead of the Zilla Parishad elections.

As a mark of respect, the state government has declared official mourning, during which the national flag will be flown at half-mast and official events will be curtailed. Leaders across the political spectrum have expressed deep grief over Pawar’s untimely demise, remembering him as a seasoned leader and a prominent figure in Maharashtra’s political life.
