VASCO: In a letter addressed to the Deputy Collector of Mormugao, Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho on Wednesday asked him to provide tight security to the quarantined persons and at the same time maintain a strict vigil on the four hotels in Vasco used as quarantine centres.

She also sought Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s intervention into the matter.
Pratima submitted a complaint letter to the Deputy Collector of Mormugao and put forth her demands regarding the people kept in the quarantine centres in Vasco.
In her complaint letter, Coutinho stated that she along with her team members have demanded that police and deputy collector look into the security aspect at the quarantine facilities (hotels) in the Vasco area.
She said the quarantine facilities are provided to the seafarers and people from other States have also come to Goa.
She said it has come to their notice that the people who have been quarantined in these centres are moving out freely to get their essential items from the market.
“As these people are roaming freely, there is a high risk of community transmission and people getting infected due to this irresponsible behaviour,” the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress said and demanded immediate action be taken into the matter.
Coutinho requested the Chief Minister to ensure that the persons quarantined in these centres are provided proper security.
