A man has been accused of harassing his girlfriend, who committed suicide at Pernem.
In a complaint, Sangita Fadtare told Pernem police that her sister Sarika ended her life due to mental torture by her lover Sunny Shankar Tirodkar.
Sangita alleged that Sunny and Sarika were involved in a love affair. On June 6, there was heated argument between them, due to which Sarika set herself ablaze on June 7.
Later, Sarika was rushed to GMC Hospital in Bambolim in a critical condition, where she expired on June 27. The next day, Sangita filed a complaint against Sunny with Pernem police.
Acting on the complaint, Pernem police arrested Sunny Tirodkar of Parra and he has been remanded to seven days police custody. Pernem police is investigating the case.
