PONDA: Ponda Police and fire personnel on Friday evening rescued a man and his one-year-old daughter from a stranded elevator on the first floor of a building in Ponda.

According to reports, the incident occurred at about 4.40 pm when Sudhir Verma, who resides in a flat on one of the floors of the building, was coming down along with his daughter, Divyanshi.

Suddenly, a power outage to the building left the father and his daughter trapped in the elevator for nearly half an hour. Despite switching on a generator, the elevator could not move due to a technical snag.

The incident was then reported to the police and fire services. A rescue team had to break open the glass pane of the elevator, in order to rescue Verma and his daughter.
