Manipuri teen dies in mishap at Dabolim

VASCO: A teenage Manipuri girl died in a car accident between a SUV car and a parked trailer by the roadside at Dabolim during Monday wee hours.

Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho immediately assured to give directions to the Transport Department to undertake a drive in Goa to impose penalty on the negligently parked trailers, heavy vehicles by the roadsides.

Negligent parking by the roadside could prove fatal in some cases and it was proved on Monday with the mishap at Dabolim.

According to police, deceased girl Eliza Devi Laishram (19), native of Manipur was a trainee in a well-known hotel in Goa. Three people were reportedly travelling in a SUV car which included the driver, deceased girl and another trainee. 

The other trainee and the driver suffered serious injuries and were shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

Vasco police carried out a panchnama and PSI Swapnil Naik is investigating further.
