Mapusa: Mapusa Municipal Council on Wednesday launched door-to-door tax collection system in collaboration with Axis Bank at the hands of MLA Joshua D’Souza.
Chief officer Clen Madeira, chairperson Ryan Braganza, council’s account cum administration officer Bhanudas Naik, municipal engineer I Hussein Shah Mujwar and bank officials were present.

The initiative was taken up following directions of Director of Municipal Administration. MMC will initially accept payments through card and later by cash. After a few days, MMC will collect house rent by sending two municipal staffers to all houses in its jurisdiction.
Congratulating the MMC team, MLA Joshua D’Souza said, “We were the first council to provide essential commodities at doorstep during the lockdown.”
