Mapusa rickshaw driver convicted

MAPUSA, AUG 12 Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Subhada Dalvi on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a rickshaw driver from Mapusa to one year imprisonment for driving his rickshaw in a rash and negligent manner, resulting in death of one person.

Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Subhada Dalvi on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a rickshaw driver from Mapusa to one year imprisonment for driving his rickshaw in a rash and negligent manner, resulting in death of one person.
Convict Jamir Masjid Khan of Gaunsavaddo has also been sentenced to pay an amount of Rs 500 as fine.
The prosecution case was that on March 21, 2008, Khan drove his rickshaw in a rash and negligent manner and knocked down a scooterist Samer Gad (24) of Aradi-Parra. Gad who had suffered grievous injuries died on the way to the hospital.
Khan was charged under Sections 279, 304 A and 334 (a) of Indian Penal Code.
