PANJIM: Anti-corruption branch (ACB) officials swooped down on a RTO employee and arrested him for alleged manipulation of funds and bribery on Friday.
RTO head clerk Naresh Narvekar was picked from the RTO office Mapusa, where the officials earlier conducted a surprise check of the records and accounts in his custody.
A raiding team member said they found Rs 600 extra in the drawer for which Narvekar had no explanation. ‘It could be bribe amount. There have been complains of bribery against him and also that the account details are not properly maintained,” he said.
No sooner was he taken into custody, the accused complained of chest pain and was rushed to the government hospital. He was, however, discharged later from where the ACB team moved him to their office for questioning.
