PANJIM: Ahead of the Budget Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly next week, the North Goa Collector has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which prohibits taking out processions or demonstration within 500 meters of the Vidhan Sabha complex in Porvorim.
Though the order is routinely imposed during Assembly sessions, this time it holds more significance since hundreds of contractual employees of the GVK-run 108 Ambulance service, Goa Recruitment and Employment Society security guards and terminated employees of the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs are on strike in the capital.
