Mapusa Urban Bank urges depositors to submit claims

PANJIM: The Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank of Goa Limited has given last and final opportunity to depositors of the under liquidation bank to submit their duly filled claim forms latest by March 31, this year.

In a public notice, the bank stated that the details regarding the submission of depositors claim forms are available on the bank website: www.mapusaurbanbank.com

Also the locker holders, who had not collected or taken custody of their valuables have been given a final chance to do so on or before March 31, 2022 failing which the bank will not be responsible.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) vide order dated April 16, 2020 cancelled the licence of The Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank of Goa Ltd, to carry on banking business, with effect from the close of business on April 16, 2020.

It also requested the Central Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Government of India to issue an order for winding up the bank and appoint a liquidator for the bank.

Earlier, in view of its deteriorating financial conditions, the RBI in July 2015 imposed restrictions and prohibited the bank from conducting the business of ‘banking’ including acceptance of fresh deposits, repayment of deposits and grant or renew any loans.
