MARGAO: The Traffic Cell of Margao police has successfully removed 22 abandoned vehicles from various locations around the city. The Traffic Cell has sent notices to the owners of another 30 vehicles which have been occupying public space.
Herald had earlier raised the issue through the Margao Page on how nearly 52 vehicles cited by the Traffic Cell of Margao were occupying public parking space for years together. The cell has now succeeded in removing a large number of these vehicles.
However, the cell has hit a roadblock due to lack of space for dumping these vehicles if removed from the places they are parked.
Traffic Cell PI Mohan Gaude said, “We have removed 22 abandoned vehicles from Margao and have sent notices to the remaining 30 vehicles asking them to vacate the space. The vehicles will be picked if there is no response to the notice.”
“There are vehicles parked or abandoned on some prime roads on the town which if taken away will ease the traffic problem in the town,” Gaude said.
The Traffic Cell and the MMC had earlier issued public notices asking the owners of the vehicles to move them away. The Traffic cell has started its inquiry as the notice period has ended. The removal of these vehicles will help ease the parking problem of Margao.
