Massive Tree Falls on Scrap Buses at Margao KTC Depot; Four Buses Damaged

A huge tree came crashing down on a group of scrap buses parked at the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) Depot in Margao on Sunday, causing damage to at least four buses, officials confirmed.

The incident occurred during heavy rainfall, which has been lashing parts of South Goa over the past few days. The tree, located near the boundary of the depot, uprooted suddenly and fell directly onto the parked scrap vehicles, crushing their roofs and windows.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the damaged buses were non-operational and there was no staff in the vicinity at the time of the collapse. KTC officials have begun assessing the extent of the damage and are coordinating with the Forest Department to clear the debris.

Depot authorities have assured that there was no disruption to passenger services, as all affected vehicles were already decommissioned. However, they have called for a thorough tree safety audit around the depot premises to prevent similar incidents in the future.
