As expected, the Congress today formally appointed Cortalim legislator Mauvin Godinho as the chairman o the Pradesh election campaign while retaining Subash Shirodkar as the president of the Goa Pradesh Congress committee (GPCC).
A press release issued by the All India Congress Committee General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi says “The Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposals of appointments of Subash Shirodkar as PCC president of Goa and Mauvin Godinho as the chairman of the Pradesh election campaign committee.”
The announcement come on the expected lines as senior partymen had opposed moves to replace Shirodkar with anyone else as according to them he was doing a “good job”.
Also, Herald was first to report on Mauvin’s appointment on Tuesday even though the sources close to the legislator had ruled out such a possibility.
Speaking to Herald GPCC president expressed happiness over the high commands decision.
“I am quite happy with the confidence reposed in me by the party high command. I will try my level best with all my colleagues in the PCC and the block committees to meet the expectations of the workers and the high command,” Shirodkar said.
He further said he will strive hard for the organization and upliftment of the common man through local schemes as well as United Progressive Alliance (UPA) flagship programme.
When contacted by Herald Mauvin said it was a honour bestowed upon him by the high command as a loyal soldier of the party.
