North Goa District and Sessions Court today issued notices to Agassaim police inspector Vishwesh Karpe and North Goa Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas to appear before it on January 10 in connection with a complaint on medical paper leak.
The notices were issued during the hearing of a petition filed by three social activists, who alleged that the police officers did not register an FIR on their complaint.
On January 3, Kashinath Shetye, Ketan Govekar and Atish Mandrakar filed a complaint at Agassaim police station alleging that final year MBBS General Medicine I and II papers were deliberately leaked with the motive for wrongful and monitory gains.
“A complaint under Prevention of Corruption Act was made to both police officers of deliberately leaking the three sets which has been sent by three different examiners in the University Board of Examiners for wrongful and monetary gains and thereby causing a loss to the students of Goa Medical College,” reads and extract from the application.
The complainants alleged that while their case was not registered, Karpe threatened them to withdraw the complaint. In their application before the Court, the three complainants have suspected that police officers are acting in connivance with Examiners of the Goa University (GU) and the GMC doctors to gain illegal benefits.
The Court has meanwhile directed the police officers to file their reply by January 10 failing which the matter will be heard and determined in their absence.
GMC in consultation with GU had to cancel General Medicine I and II papers after each of all three sets of question papers were found to be leaked.
Fresh dates for re-examination of the two papers have been scheduled on January 13 and 14 respectively
