PANJIM: Menezes family is in the shock with the sudden change in the family structure post death of the earning hand in a tragic accident at Corlim on Monday.
Luis Menezes (48) who was one of the pedestrian killed by a speeding car at Colrim is survived by his wife and four young children. Three kids are schooling and elder daughter is pursuing diploma in Pharmacy.
Luis was a clerk in a pre-primary school at Old Goa and his wife teaches in the same school in pre-primary section. She is not medically fit since couple of years.
Luis was the only major earning in the family.
On the fateful, Luis and another deceased Ida were waiting for the priest on the highway to welcome him for house blessings when the speeding car ran over them.
Luis’ elder daughter is pursuing diploma in Pharmacy, the second daughter has just answered of SSC, and third daughter is in fourth standard while the younger son is in first standard.
With the sudden death their father, the children are now dependent on a single parent.
The tragedy happened in front of the apartment in which Menezes family was residing in a flat at Corlim opposite of Malik Petrol Pump.
Tara Kerkar, a social activist has also expressed sympathies for the Menezes family.
As per study, she said children from single-parent families are more likely to experience less healthy lives, on the average, than children from intact families.
