OLD GOA: In a bid to expand its base ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Maharashtra Goamantak Party has decided to initiate a drive in more than 20 constituencies of the State.
MGP President and Cooperation Minister Deepak Dhavlikar has stated that committees to these constituencies will be announced at the party’s meeting on October 2.
Speaking to Herald at a private function in St Cruz, Dhavlikar said the MGP has decided to rope in ZP members, sarpanchas, panchas and the youth, to work for the party in various constituencies.
“We have decided to form constituency-wise committees in over 20 constituencies, while the Central Committee of the party will be formed in December and our dream of reorganizing the party all over the State will be started once again from October,” informed Dhavlikar.
“We have amended the old constitution of the party. ZP members, sarpanchas, panchas, social workers and youth who like to work for the party will be given due respect in our party constituency committees,” he said.
“The process to finalize most committees in all constituencies is in the final stage and we will start declaring them from October 2.”
“We will declare all constituency committees by November and we will proceed with the election to the central committee in December, as we want to strengthen our party base in the State,” he informed.
“Since our party has completed 50 years of existence, we also like to highlight the history of last 50 years to our party workers, which will be done on October 2,” said Dhavlikar.
Asked about the party’s decision for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, he said MGP is part of the BJP-led government and reaffirmed the importance of the coalition.
“We haven’t thought about the Lok Sabha elections, as it will be decided by our central committee,” added the MGP chief Deepak Dhavlikar.
