MARGAO: A second half strike by Anthony Silveira enabled St Savio Sports Club, Calangute pip Parish Youth, Nuvem 1-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals of all -Goa Mandopa Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Mandopa Sporting Club, at Mandopa ground, Thursday.
There was no score at half time.
In an evenly fought encounter, chances were far and few with the defence of both the teams not allowing the strikers much space.
Crossing over, St Savio pile on the pressure on the rival citadel and their efforts bore the fruit in the 50th minute when striker Anthony Silveira slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Parish Youth tried their best to neutralized the lead but could not break down the resilient Calangute defence which protected the slender lead.
