Confident that Goan Beach Grind is almost cleared

PANJIM: In the battle of the electronic dance music, Francisco Mickky Pacheco’s Goan Beach Grind seems to hold the edge with provisional permission being given to his event proposed to be held at Baga, while Sunburn and Supersonic continue to battle it out for Candolim as the State-level event permission committee has sought for more venue allocation documents from these two organizers.
While Percept has been given the first preference to submit its documents by Monday (November 18) failing which, Supersonic would have an opportunity to submit documents sought for by the committee.
Meanwhile, Pacheco who is organizing the Goan Beach Grind (EDM) fest through his event company Bresources at Baga from December 26-29, 2013 has also been asked to submit NOC from the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) for using its land for the four-day music festival.
Pacheco said that he had applied for an NOC from the GTDC two months ago and would get it within the next two days.
A confident Pacheco said, “It is apparent that my event is almost cleared,” adding that even as the GTDC property admeasuring around 30,000 sq meters is under renovation, he would take all the necessary steps to spruce up the venue for the EDM event. Pacheco also claims to have additional land measuring 3 lakh sq meters for parking for which he has the necessary permissions.
There is however still no clarity on whether there would be two EDM events this December in North Goa and the suspense continues till Monday when the committee is likely to reconvene.
With around a month to go for the event(s), Wednesday’s State-level event permission committee meeting to finalize the EDM event organizer appears to have remained inconclusive.
All the three organizers namely Percept, Viacom 18 and Mickky Pacheco were called for what was the third meeting of the committee.
Harinder Singh of Percept when contacted by Herald refused to speak and said they were awaiting the decision of the committee which is meeting next week. Representatives of Viacom 18 were unavailable for comment.
