Ruling out the possibility of doing any re-think on his decision to back an Independent candidate for the Benaulim seat, Benaulim MLA Caetano alias Caitu Silva on Friday said the party leadership is free to remove him from the party if they think that he has indulged in anti-party activities.
Hardening his stand further, the Benaulim MLA sought to know whether the party had at any time stood behind him. “If the party leadership does not want him in the party, they are free to remove me from the regional party,” Caitu told Herald late Friday evening.
Caitu had on Thursday stirred a hornet’s nest when he openly backed his close aide Honey D’Costa as an Independent candidate for the Benaulim seat and had vowed not to support the candidate fielded by the party leadership.
