Margao: Former Tourism Minister Mickky Pacheco has expressed anguish against the government and the Home Dept for filing an FIR against him by the Crime Branch for giving suggestions on handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Goa. He also issued a warning stating that he will be the Home Minister in the next Government and will make the alleged corrupt police officials take voluntary retirement.
He also recalled the raids and seizures that have been done by the police at his home and pointed out that his family is even used to such tactics by now.
“What I said at the press conference was not an allegation but a suggestion. It is all on record,” he added.
“If an FIR is filed for giving suggestions, the allegations made by the cabinet ministers Michael Lobo and Manohar Ajgaonkar that police are corrupt are also valid. If lawmakers make these allegations, then it is understood,” Mickky sarcastically added, while hitting out at the double standards.
He also alleged, “The Mangor hill community spread originated from Karnataka. The Collector had issued passes to get essential commodities but iron ore was brought under the garb of essential commodities. The paper of permission was stuck on the trucks and one of the drivers of ore trucks is said to have relatives in Mangor hill.”
Targeting the Home Dept, he added, “Matka is going on in all constituencies with seven tables in villages..even during the lockdown. Can’t you (govt) see that?..I am not scared of the FIR being filed against me. In fact the government (ministers) has agreed that the department is corrupt,” he added.
Mickky further warned ‘corrupt police officials’ and said he will contest the elections and become the Home Minister in the next government and ‘will see to it that all these corrupt police officers are fixed well’.
“I will force these corrupt police officials to take voluntary retirement,” Mickky added.
