Sleuths of the Crime branch on Tuesday made their presence felt along the coastal belt in a bid to ascertain the whereabouts of the former tourism minister, even as reports did the rounds in his Benaulim constituency that Mickky Pacheco may surrender to the investigating agency in a day or two.
There were reports that supporters of the former minister assembled at his residence this morning to take stock of the situation arising out of the rejection of his bail application by the High Court. However, when newsmen visited his Betalbatim residence around noon, not much activity was witnessed at his house.
However, rumours were rife that the Benaulim legislator would finally surrender to the crime branch in a day or two, with sources saying that his supporters may accompany him to the Crime Branch headquarters during the surrender.
Meanwhile, acting on information that the former minister is likely to surrender, the police made their presence felt along the coastal belt, especially in Benaulim constituency.
Sources said the police tried to ascertain from his supporters on the question of his surrender and whether the supporters would be accompanying the elusive legislator to the Crime Branch headquarters.
Sources said the police visited the residence of a close supporter of  Mickky at Colva to gather information on his whereabouts and the surrender plan.
