Minister says Rs 3.5 crore to be spent on new P’yat ghar at Sancoale

Says a Vasco-based businessman has donated land under CSR to construct the new building

VASCO: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday said that under the Deendayal Infrastructure Development Scheme, Rs 3.5 crore will be granted to construct a modern panchayat ghar at Sancoale.

Stating that the existing panchayat ghar is in a dilapidated condition, the minister informed that a Vasco-based businessman has donated land under CSR to construct a new building.

The minister said a noted builder under the CSR activity purchased land  worth Rs 65 lakh and the same was donated to the  State government for constructing the panchayat ghar in Sancoale. 

He also mentioned that in two weeks time the work to set up a two biodigester plants in Chicalim will commence. These plants will generate power as well as gas, which can be utilised for various purposes. Funds to the tune of Rs 7 crore will be utilised for the same,” Godinho added.

Sarpanch Girish Pillai thanked the Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho and a resident for pursuing the land-related matter.

Pillai said initially when he became the sarpanch, the panchayat funds were Rs 7 crore, which have now increased to Rs 13 crore. There was a need to have a new panchayat ghar and for that land was needed.

“I approached minister Godinho in this regard and he approached his friend, who contacted a noted businessman from Vasco for donating some land for constructing the panchayat ghar in Sancoale,” he informed.
